Edwin Graham Perkin was born in Hopetoun, Victoria in 1929, and joined The Age as a cadet in 1949. He was appointed Deputy News Editor in 1973. He was also Director of Australian Associated Press and Reuters (London). From 1961 to 1963 Perkin lectured in journalism at the University of Melbourne. Graham Perkin died in 1975.
